A FAIR DEAL FOR THE MOTORIST |
HERE’S HOW YOU CAN HELP STOP ROAD PRICING (TOLLS) AND THE CREEPING ROADS SELL-OFF
After the 2015 General Election,
there is the threat of road pricing (tolls) on England’s main roads, enabled
by some form of privatisation or outsourcing. The leaky promise in the Coalition Agreement to rule out tolls and any preparation for
tolls in this Parliament (‘for cars on existing roads’) expires in May,
but remember that as a voter, you have some power to influence. To save time, we’ve come up with
some template letters (MS-Word/text files) with the main points that you can
adapt. Please use your own words if
possible. Click on one of the links below to download. ·
If your MP is standing for re-election, please write to
them a.s.a.p. – even if you live in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland. Road
tolling is likely to affect those who drive across the border or have goods
delivered through England. (You can also write to candidates who will be
after your vote; check local media for contact details). ·
Keep your letter polite and persuasive. ·
Keep it reasonably short and leave out unrelated issues. ·
Why not get your family, friends and neighbours to write
too? To save time, we’ve come up with some
template letters (MS-Word/text files) with the main points that you can adapt.
Please use your own words if possible.
