STOP TCPR West

Stop ruining Fulham with insane traffic schemes

Why Hammersmith & Fulham Council must listen to residents.

TORTUOUS, CLUTTERED, PUNISHING RESIDENTS

The ‘TCPR’ scheme to the east of Wandsworth Bridge Road has been a disaster. Over 10,000 people signed a petition against it. The main petition for traffic reduction got only 263 signatures. H&F Council didn’t listen, but confirmed the scheme.

When a large number of dissatisfied residents attended a Council Meeting in 2020, the Chief Whip, Cllr Aherne, moved to extend the meeting to midnight. Discussion of the traffic reduction scheme was pushed well down the Agenda by including lengthy filler items such as awards ceremonies that should really have been handled separately.

Adding insult to injury, H&F Council is pushing TCPR West. The scheme clutters our streets with cameras and signs galore, and make driving complicated for our friends and visitors. (For camera map, click here)

Visitors from outside H&F will most likely have to register each time they visit, with the prospect of fines if they take a wrong turn or can’t get through to the RingGo system. The same could happen to commercial visitors from outside H&F which can only drive our costs up. Just who will benefit from the fines???

The same council that has messed up our streets with road bumps, inflicted road-space wasting, bus blocking  cycle lanes on Hammersmith and made driving in Shepherds Bush into an assault course is hyping the madcap scheme. The same council that doubled some parking charges to £6 an hour in the pandemic when people’s minds were distracted

The hyped TCPR West scheme also threatens to make some traffic divert to New Kings Road, Fulham Palace Road and Putney Bridge, making congestion in the borough worse elsewhere.

Please sign the petition against TCPR West – thousands already have.

Tell your friends and get them to do the same.

WANT TO BE FINED FOR DRIVING AT 25 MPH?

The joke consultation also quietly aims to make permanent the unwanted 20 mph speed limits that have suddenly become trialled on Wandsworth Bridge Road and New Kings Road.

(Hype on 20 mph limits exposed).

20’s plenty of fine money?

When H&F Council substantially extended 20mph limits to side roads in 2016, they spared all or part of our main roads after a resident backlash.

An assurance on sticking to this plan is being broken: (“That is exactly what we

will stick to and we will not do anything other than stick to that.”, 13.3.16)

It seems you can’t trust H&F Council.

These plans are the first wave of a hyped Transport Apartheid system of low traffic neighbourhoods (‘LTNs’). Only H&F Council doesn’t want to call them LTNs as it admits residents don’t warm to that concept.

The latest gimmick is to call them ‘Clean Air Neighbourhoods’, but they stand to totally congest the borough and make life difficult for thousands

in neighbouring boroughs.

If they can get away with it, there seems to be wider – and less publicised - moves with Mayor Sadiq Khan to slow Wandsworth Bridge Road down to 10 mph or even 5 mph

What planet are these people on?  Sadiq has upped his take on your council tax by 8.8% recently to pay for slowing everyone down…. and more cameras for 20mph fines.

“A million tickets a year are set to be issued to speeding motorists in London following a massive expansion of 20mph limits and the roll-out of new LASERcam 4 speed cameras” (Evening Standard, 25.2.22)
